Dos de las mujeres sentadas en la clase de GED le dicen al orientador Carlos Martín Llamazares que están interesadas en el curso de cosmetología que se da en inglés. Un señor quiere aprender sobre aire acondicionado y Martín le recomienda la clase de “home appliances”. Otra de las jóvenes admite que no piensa estudiar nada porque regresará a México el próximo año.

Over the last 138 years, these are just some of the different ways that people have been welcomed to Erie Neighborhood House. Erie has assisted thousands of immigrants who have come to Chicago by providing a community center, educational programs and resources that help them connect with their new home. Today, the population Erie serves is primarily Latino, and each year, Erie provides services for over 5,000 low income individuals and families.

La Fundación México Americana de Defensa Legal y Educacional (Maldef) celebró su segunda graduación anual de padres dentro del programa Parent School Partnership, PSP.

Juanita González subió al estrado a recibir su certificado y protagonizó uno de los momentos más emotivos de la graduación de 56 madres de familia el 28 de mayo ante más de 100 espectadores.
