"Progress or Promised Land? 50 Years of Civil Rights in Ohio."
Featuring: Eddie Harrell, Jr., Chairmain of the Ohio Civil Rights Commission with support from the Athletic Club of Columbus
Ohio Civil Rights Commission Chairman Eddie Harrell, Jr. will speak on the topic of civil rights and discuss the notion whether we've made progress or truly "reached the promised land" that Dr. King spoke of. What progress has been made as reflected in actual cases that come before the OCRC, and in society in light of the election of our nation's first African-American President? Harrell will also touch on current and pending civil rights legislation and its significance as well as recent events including displays and occurrences of hatred, bigotry and overt prejudice.

G. Michael Payton, OCRC Executive Director, will serve on a panel of experts to discuss the enforcement and compliance of civil rights laws in the State of Ohio.
Join peers from a wide variety of professions from around the state for a day-long conference focusing on the past, present and future of equality, diversity, and opportunity. Program tracks include Diversity and Community Outreach, Best Practices for Equal Opportunity in Employment, Inclusion and Demographic Trends.
