HIPPY BI-LINGUAL FAMILY EDUCATOR
Part Time- 25 hours per week with benefits
A Family Educator meets with enrolled parents in their home once every two weeks (if the parent can attend group meetings). On alternate weeks the Family Educator meets with parent(s) in a group setting. If parent(s) cannot make the group meeting, then the Family Educator will make arrangements to meet weekly in the home.
At the initial home visit the Family Educator:
1. Complete application, contract and other forms as deemed necessary
2. Assesses needs for other services
3. Explains overall program
4. Set up an appropriate time future home visits
At each home visit the Family Educator:
1. Reviews the activity packets and other material from the previous week.
2. Instructs the parent in the up-coming week’s material.
3. Discusses any problems that arose with the parent while working with the child and passes on these concerns to the coordinator for further discussions.
4. Records all necessary information on home visit work sheet
In addition to home visits, the Family Educator meets weekly for mandatory staff training and supervision.
Job Requirements:
➢ High school diploma or equivalent degree
➢ Fluent in Spanish and English
➢ Reliable transportation
➢ Have completed at least one year of the HIPPY curriculum (preferred but not required).
